Recently, Karolina was invited to take part in a discussion on the new publication by Małgorzata Łukianow, a sociologist at the University of Warsaw and a fellow researcher of communities in Poland’s “Recovered Territories”. During the event, held on Karowa Street, home to the Faculty of Sociology of the University of Warsaw, both researchers explored how to narrate the stories of new settlers and contemporary inhabitants without reinforcing popular narratives about the strangeness and incomprehensibility of these regions and their residents. The differences between sociology and ethnography were among many thought-provoking questions asked by Agnieszka Nowakowska, the host of the meeting.

Małgorzata’s book was published this year by Routledge. You can read more about it here.
